How can I put Linux on my PS3 and is it worth it?

Wow this thread is old...

I got YDL 5 on the PS3. I was hoping it could replace my Xbox with XBMC but it runs too slow. Also, switching between Linux and the PS3 OS is a pain. Good for emulators, browsing, email... not much else.
